Chinese-Spanish Bilingual Journal Confucius Institute Wins the First Technological Innovation Prize of Spanish Newspaper La Raz¨Žn

On November 29th local time, Carmen Vela, Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation in the Spanish Government, and Francisco Marhuenda, Director of Spanish Newspaper La Raz¨Žn, awarded the first Technological Innovation Prize in 2017 to the Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia, which is in charge of the overseas editing and publication of the Chinese-Spanish bilingual journal Confucius Institute. Vicente Andreu, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia, received the prize on behalf of the editorial office of the journal.

The prize is aimed at encouraging Spanish domestic enterprises and individuals to attach importance to technological research and innovation. The prize was awarded to 15 technological innovation programs, which are from fifteen institutions throughout Spanish, including Hisense of China, Toshiba of Japan, Hyundai of Korea and other enterprises. The Confucius Institute at the University of Valencia was the only university institution, the only cultural promotion institution and the only non-profit institution among the awarded institutions.

The Chinese-Spanish bilingual journal Confucius Institute has been innovating on its content and style and improving the journalĄ¯s quality during its seven yearĄ¯s development. Meanwhile, the journal continues to explore new channels of getting close to readers. In recent years, with the development of network technology, the journal has launched the online version and an App. With more accessibility, the online version enables readers to read the excellent articles of the journal in relatively short time. The App meets the readersĄ¯ needs for offline reading. This year, the journal also developed a readersĄ¯ corner of the online community and published articles in English and Spanish. Currently, the readersĄ¯ corner has attracted more than 30,000 registered readers from all over the world. Here they can interact and exchange experiences and understanding of Chinese culture.

The Chinese-Spanish bilingual journal Confucius Institute is promoted to readers outside Valencia and Spain by using internet and App technologies. The journal creates the channels of cultural exchanges and rapidly brings Chinese culture out of national boundaries. This innovative achievement has been highly praised by Spanish national newspaper La Raz¨Žn and relevant government departments. It is the second time that the Confucius Institute has won related awards of Spanish local media.
