Chinese Craze Rises among Students in Namibia

On August 1st, in Windhoek, Namibia, Wang Ling, a teacher of the Confucius Institute at the University of Namibia, teaching Chinese. With the increase in exchanges between China and Namibia, there are more and more students studying Chinese in Namibia.

The Confucius Institute at University of Namibia is jointly run by China University of Geosciences (Beijing) and the University of Namibia, and it was officially unveiled in August 2013. At present, there are two government-sponsored Chinese teachers and six volunteer teachers in the Confucius Institute with 11 teaching sites and 1842 students. Lazarus Hangula, Vice Chancellor of the University of Namibia, said that the Confucius Institute provides opportunities of learning Chinese and Chinese culture for those Namibian who want to study or do business in China. "Through mastering Chinese, you can embrace a wonderful world, and then you can discover and understand China."
