(photo from the sponsors)During the summer vacation from July 16th to July 30th, 2017, the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for International Culture Ambassadors, sponsored by the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and China Culture & Tourism Photography Association, was held in Beijing, in which 20 foreign ambassadors from all over the world and 20 Chinese ambassadors were present.
It is known that all of these Chinese and foreign ambassadors are teenagers aged between 10 and 14. Cultural communication among young people is easy to stimulate resonance, bring the spiritual distance closer and promote friendship. Therefore, a series of activities were organized by the sponsors in order to let them experience traditional Chinese culture and witness the glory of China.
During the summer camp, the little ambassadors would, under the guidance of artists from all walks of life, experience traditional Chinese instruments, listen to Chinese operas, watch Chinese martial arts shows, and learn Chinese calligraphy, painting as well as embroidery. They would also make Chinese writing brushes and ceramic products by themselves and practice in tracing a design in gold on Huizhou ink, batik and other traditional handicrafts. Besides, the little ambassadors would pay a visit to Tian¡¯anmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, the Capital Museum, the Temple of Confucius, the Imperial College and other places.
"The two-week communication was filled with interaction and experiences. The Chinese and foreign ambassadors spent a happy and meaningful summer time as they ate and lived together, learned from each other, understood, respected and loved each other," a relevant worker of the sponsors said.
It is reported that the opening ceremony of the Chinese Bridge Summer Camp for International Culture Ambassadors was held on Changping campus of Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College on the morning of July 17. The Chinese and foreign ambassadors quickly established friendship at their first meeting.
