First 2017 HSK Test Exhibition of Studying and Working in China Kicks off

On May 21st, the First 2017 HSK Test Exhibition of Studying and Working in China kicked off. The exhibition was co-hosted by the Chinese Testing International Co., Ltd. (CTI) of the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the Confucius Institute at Kyrgyz National University. This exhibition aims at providing an exchanging platform for Chinese overseas students and Chinese learners in Kyrgyzstan, China’s colleges and universities and China-invested enterprises in the country, facilitating Chinese learners to learn more about China and have more opportunities for studying in China and obtaining employment.

Officials of Education and Science Ministry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Bishkek government, Overseas Chinese Association in Central Asia and guests from all circles attended the opening ceremony. Nine prestigious universities in China including Renmin University of China and Fudan University and eight famous China-invested enterprises in Kyrgyzstan including China Southern Airlines, Huawei Technologies Company and Zhongda China Petrol Company were invited to the exhibition. In the ceremony, the 31st Secondary School and the Confucius Classroom of the Confucius Institute at Kyrgyz National University brought joyful dancing performance.

Salidin Kaldybaev, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, fully affirmed the institute’s importance role in Chinese teaching and spoke highly of Chinese learners’ enthusiasm in his speech for the ceremony. He hoped that learners would help to promote the development of China-Kyrgyzstan relations and contribute to the long-standing friendship between the two countries. Ma Lei, Chinese Director of the institute, concluded the development of HSK test in Kyrgyzstan and looked forward to its promising prospect. He encouraged the examinees to study hard to jointly create a bright future for both countries.

This exhibition was also the first consulting session held outside the HSK test sites in Kyrgyzstan concerning studying at Chinese universities and targeted recruitment of enterprises, attracting nearly 2,000 examinees and Chinese learners. Admission officers of these universities introduced the enrollment policies and curriculum system for overseas students. Students in the session were very interested in master’s program of Chinese Language and Literature, bachelor’s program of Clinical Medicine, curriculums of economy and administration and Chinese language training programs.

Students expressed that, this fair helps their Chinese learning a lot and enlightens them on studying abroad and obtaining a job. They are expecting that the Confucius Institute will build more such exchanging platforms in the future.

The Confucius Institute at Kyrgyz National University has been established for eight years so far with the number of HSK candidates rising year by year. Through the platform of Confucius Institutes, more and more Chinese language learners head for China to learn Chinese and pursue careers related to Chinese language. As of now, candidates of HSK in the Confucius Institutes at Kyrgyz National University amount to about 20,000.
