Hanban Delegation Visits Confucius Institute at Zayed University

On the morning of Apr. 23rd, Xia Jianhui, Deputy Chief Executive of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Deputy Director-General of Hanban, along with his delegation visited the Confucius Institute at Zayed University, Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Du Wei, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute, gave an account of the Chinese language teaching and cultural activities conducted in recent years by the Confucius Institute at Zayed University and briefly introduced the key projects to be implemented. After teachers’ work reports, Xia Jianhui said that advancing the construction of the “Belt and Road” has mobilized the enthusiasm of all walks of life in the UAE to learn Chinese. The enterprising spirit of “Never spur a willing horse” of Director Du Wei and the staff has not only played an inspiration role, but contributed to the promotion of Chinese culture and Chinese language teaching. The Confucius Institute Headquarters has always been the rear area for the faculty and will continuously provide strong support for them.

During the visit, Xia Jianhui along with his delegation paid a courtesy call on Ni Jian, Chinese Ambassador to the UAE. Both sides held discussions on the education cooperation between China and the UAE, Chinese language teaching’s “going global” and other topics.

Xia Jianhui introduced the main activities and results of this visit and said that China and the UAE have great potential in education cooperation. The Confucius Institute Headquarters is willing to promote education cooperation between the two countries, especially to provide support and assistance to the Chinese language teaching in the UAE so as to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples.

Ni Jian said that with the increase of China’s national comprehensive strength and the promotion of the “Belt and Road” initiative, Chinese language teaching’s “going global” has become a trend. Chinese Embassy in the UAE is willing to closely coordinate and cooperate with the Confucius Institute Headquarters to achieve new fruits in Chinese language teaching in the UAE and enhance people-to-people bonds.
