Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People¡¯s Congress Chen Changzhi Visits Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka in Bangladesh

On Apr. 5, local time, Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People¡¯s Congress visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh on the sideline of the 136th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly. Arefin Siddique, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Ma Mingqiang, Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Wu Yun, office director of Confucius Institute at Yunnan University and Chinese and foreign directors of Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka accompanied Chen during his visit.

Chen Changzhi looked around the Chinese culture exhibition room, language lab and cultural activity room, watched Taiji performed by students and interacted with students who are learning Chinese. In the exhibition room, Zhou Mingdong, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute introduced the status quo and characteristics of the institute to visitors. In the language lab, Chen shared his experience on learning Russian with students and encouraged them to study hard, practice more and well perform the role of the envoys for the exchanges between China and Bangladesh.


Envoy of Culture, Bridge of Friendship

In the activity room, students were taking classes of traditional Chinese talents including paper cutting and calligraphy under the guidance of teachers. Chen Changzhi received the calligraphy and paintings given by students as gifts. In return, Chen inscribed eight characters meaning Envoy of Culture, Bridge of Friendship, which excited and inspired the teachers and students.
