Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University hosts HSK/HSKK in fall 2016

On October 16, 2016, the Testing Center for Chinese Proficiency Tests of Confucius Institute at San Francisco State University (SF State) hosted their second HSK/HSKK session. This year, 47 participants from Bay Area schools and companies across California took part in the exam, for HSK levels 1 to 6 and all levels of HSKK.

Compared with the first HSK/HSKK session, hosted on March 20, 2016, the number of participants has increased by 20, for a significant increase of nearly 50%. The center’s achievements reflect the increasing individual needs for the tests and valuable teamwork for the promotion and testing services. After 5 years of development, the Testing Center of Confucius Institute at SF State now is well developed, with year-round professional consultation and convenient on-line testing services for all interested students and professionals.

The participants of the different levels of HSK/HSKK took part in the tests for various purposes. Some are professionals working in the Silicon Valley area, while some are high school or college students with different majors, and still others are long-time Chinese language learners who simply wish to demonstrate their progress in Chinese studies. Despite their different ages and diverse backgrounds, all of the test takers are very enthusiastic about Chinese language and culture. Learning Chinese is necessary for them to better understand Chinese culture and communicate with Chinese people. With China’s rapid economic development, learning Chinese has become increasingly attractive to people all over the world, especially to those who work with Chinese people either overseas or in China, and taking HSK/HSKK has become a new choice for self-development. According to many HSK/HSKK participants, taking this globally recognized standard Chinese test can benefit them with greater numbers of career choices and opportunities for promotion. They also show a great interest in taking Chinese language and culture classes at the Confucius Institute at SF State. They all feel satisfied and grateful for the Confucius Institute at SF State for providing the online tests, and expect to register for the next session to be held in May 2017.
