Training program of volunteer Chinese teachers for Confucius Institutes in 22 countries launched in Dalian

On May 9th, the training program of volunteer Chinese teachers hosted by Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) was officially launched at Dalian University of Foreign Languages (DUFL). The trainees will be assigned to work in 22 countries including Russia, Spain, and South Korea.

A total of 174 volunteer Chinese teachers from 55 universities including Peking University, Beijing Language and Culture University and Beijing Foreign Studies University will receive professional trainings in Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language (TCSL/TCFL) and Chinese culture.

It is learned that this training program will last for six weeks. After completion, all the 174 volunteer Chinese teachers will be assigned to work at 57 Confucius Institutes (Classrooms) in 22 countries including Russia, Spain, South Korea and Armenia as envoys of dissemination of Chinese language and China’s international communication.

Orientation

The training program is managed under semi-military discipline. Renowned professors, scholars and experts will deliver lectures to the trainees at the invitation of related departments of DUFL. Through case study, practical and task-oriented training, the trainees will systematically learn a wide range of subjects including the construction of Confucius Institutes, work ethics, Chinese culture dissemination and cross-cultural communication, the key promotion projects of Hanban, overseas working and living adaptation and management, as well as traditional Chinese culture and arts.

Quality development training session

As a national multi-lingual base for international promotion of Chinese language in Dalian, Dalian University of Foreign Languages has accomplished wide-ranging training tasks including the training programs for Chinese Directors of Confucius Institutes, government dispatched Chinese language teachers, and the orientation training of government-sponsored volunteer Chinese teachers. In total, the base has offered trainings to some 2,300 trainees of different categories from universities nationwide, and produced groups of excellent Chinese teachers and volunteers who have become the pioneers and practitioners in the cause of international promotion of Chinese language.
