Liu Yunshan attends activity of Confucius Institute at University College Dublin, Ireland

On June 15, 2014, Mr. Liu Yunshan, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, attended the foundation laying ceremony of the new teaching building of the Confucius Institute at the University College Dublin and the Joint Conference of New Confucius Institutes in Europe.
Together, Mr. Liu Yunshan and Mr. Ruairi Quinn, Minister for Education and Skills in Ireland, unveiled the nameplate of the teaching building of the Confucius Institute and laid the cornerstone for the building. At the Joint Conference of New Confucius Institutes in Europe, Mr. Liu Yunshan watched with great interest the performances by students of the Confucius Institute at the University College Dublin and Confucius Classrooms in local primary and secondary schools. In his passionate speech, Mr. Liu Yunshan pointed out that ¡°the Confucius Institute emerged at the right moment as a bridge for cultural exchanges and hoped that the Institute would build itself into a ¡®spiritual high-speed rail¡¯ connecting Chinese dreams, dreams of various countries, and the world, thus making greater contributions to the promotion of the friendship between China and Europe.¡±
Mr. Liu donated 1,000 Chinese textbooks to the University College Dublin and invited 100 students from Irish universities and secondary schools to participate in the ¡°Chinese Bridge¡± Summer Camp in China.
